The Commission des normes du travail wished to ascertain the level of satisfaction of its clientele in order to draw up proposals for improvements in the quality of its services. Three surveys were conducted: 350 interviews were completed with employers who had been respondents in a complaint of psychological harassment in files completed and closed by the Commission. 800 interviews were conducted with a clientele that had taken part in information sessions offered by the Commission to employers and various organizations. And finally, 1,600 questionnaires were completed by employees whose files had been handled by the Direction générale des affaires juridiques.

In order to evaluate the net benefit of training plans, the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport set up the La Relance au secondaire and the La Relance au collégial to assess the position of graduates on completion of their studies and following their entry onto the labour market. Forty thousand six hundred twenty-five (40,625) interviews were conducted in French and 2,294 in English using a questionnaire provided by the Minister. Vast efforts were deployed in tracing and researching telephone numbers.

Understanding the repercussions of the new customs security procedures and their consequences for voluntary compliance with the Programme volontaire de lutte contre le terrorisme auprès des entreprises exportatrices du Québec, for the Ministère du Développement économique, de l’Innovation et de l’Exportation and the Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation

Following September 9/11 2001, the voluntary Custom-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) was set up to increase border security while expediting the flow of trade between the United States and Canada. As this entails a plan for securing each link in the export-product supply chain, the study aimed at preparing a statement of the repercussions on businesses of the new border initatives in force, while ascertaining the intentions of exporters to conform to C-TPAT. The study consisted of three phases: an Internet survey (using Interviewer Web software) of 3,500 export companies (initiated with prior telephone calls to confirm company coordinates), a telephone survey in the form of semi-structured mini-interviews conducted in-depth among 38 large corporate exporters, and finally, four focus groups with SMB exporters, including one focus group with companies in the agri-food sector.
